I’ve been collecting things from nature. Branches (eaten, rotten, drifting, fresh) and stones (hollow, precious, petrified, volcanic). Seashells, fossils, seed capsules. Leaves. By now they compile a large collection of fetishised objects that tell me about nature. Showing me signs of natural processes. As an ode to my collection I created a sculptural series of three, called ‘Handpoems’. Clay versions of my hands balancing pewter versions of my objects, whilst balancing themselves. The hand of the craftwomen, amusingly giving associations to the symbolic hand of God. The reverence and the power to create.
